The yellow wallpaper

That was a very strange story about a woman who was living in a house with her husband and her sister in law and her baby. She was ill, but she didn’t think that. Her husband was a doctor that was a big problem, because this man tried to safe his wife from everything. At the beginning of the story the woman loves him a lot, but this love turns to hatred. I don’t think that house was a clinic or something, because in a normal house the owners don’t fix the bed to the floor. This woman had a lot of psychological problems after the pregnant session. The writer tried to show the women’s life in the 19’s century. In those times women did not have any rights or something. This story shows that. John, the woman’s husband, “chained” his wife to their house. This girl’s only happiness is the writing her diary and the wallpaper on the wall. She saw a woman on the wall. That woman was her free self. In the first period she wants to leave this house but later she doesn’t want to move anywhere. Maybe she loved that place. I don’t think so. She does not want to fight with her husband. I think she got bored with that and her life too.
„The Law of Life”

I liked the story. It was rather strange for me because it is hard to understand how other civilizations and other cultures think. It’s a very sad story about life and relationship. The old Indian’s place in the text is not easy. He was a tired old man. Nobody misses him, which is said. His son leaves him alone in the forest in winter. He doesn’t want to die, but he must. I found a lot of symbolic pictures in the text. For example: the winter is equal with death and the other thing is he compares his self with an old buck. He tried to remember a hunting where the wolves captured an old buck. Here the old man was that buck. He couldn’t win that fight with the wolves. He tried but he lost.
An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge

I liked the story, because I found it interesting. I can understand the leader actor’s aspect. Why did he want to blow up the bridge? He was a real southern guy with traditions; he had fears about the junkies. If they were to get to his territory, maybe, they would kill all his family and they would even take his area too. Ok it was not a good idea to try to blow up the bridge alone. But sometimes one man wins the war, maybe he thought that. I think he did not want to be a hero, he just tried to protect what belonged to him.

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl

In my opinion this story was not strange at all. The text is spoken about a general case, which did not seem to be a problem in those years. I think the girl who was a slave was a clever girl, she wanted to be free and she did everything she could to achieve her goal. She imagined that she was pregnant. She thought if she told her master about it, he would do anything for her. She made a lot of mistakes, though. She told her problem to his grandmother too, who set her away. I don’t like the story because that was a bit too boring to me. I couldn’t quite understand the leading actress’ problems.
